This very easy no-sew little holder is just the thing for keeping all those TV viewing essentials together where you need them, when you need them.

Materials:

one yard heavy fabric - upholstery, denim, etc.
fusible webbing
fabric glue
newspaper for pattern
tape measure
pen or pencil

The holder is designed to drape over the arm of the chair or sofa, and must be long enough to be anchored by either tucking it under a loose cushion, or down in between the seat and the arm.

Steps:

1. Measure from the center top of the arm and down the inside to the bottom of the seat cushion. Add 15 inches to this measurement. This will determine the length of the piece of fabric. The piece should be 12-inches wide. Cut a piece of newspaper to this size for the backing pattern. For the pocket cut a rectangle of paper 8-1/2"  x 13". Round off two of the corners. Across the opposite (top) edge cut a gentle scoop going from corner to corner. It should be no more than 1" deep.

2. Stack fabric wrong side up topped by the fusible webbing and then the pattern pieces. Pin all together and cut out around the patterns.

3. Remove pins and iron the webbing to the wrong side of the fabric following manufacturers' directions.

4. Turn under the curved edge of the pocket 1/2 inch and press (figure A). Turn under and press 1/2 inch all the way around the back piece (figure B). Note: When pressing the rounded corners, fold the corner up first and press, then fold up the side and bottom and press.

5. Working one side at a time, apply a bead of fabric glue under the pressed down hem, then press again with a very hot, dry iron. Turn over and press on right side to help it adhere. Continue until all of the pressed down edges have been glued. Glue to curved top edge of the pocket as well.

6. Lay the pocket, face down, on the ironing board. Center the back, face down, on top of it (figure C). There should be about one inche of fabric extending on both sides and across the bottom. Fold over this extra inch onto the wrong side of the back piece (figure D). Once you have pressed it all the way around the three edges, begin applying the fabric glue, then press it down again to adhere.

7. When everything is secure, place the caddy over the arm of an easy chair or sofa with the long end anchored under the cushion (figure E). Keep the television guide, remote controls, plus a pad of paper and pencil in the pocket at all times!
