Entry Renovation

Curb Appeal : Episode CRB-405 -- More Projects »
Designer Marty Dykas Jr. begins his renovation of Bryan Nadeau's home by first gutting the interior of the entryway and removing the gate, planter, tile, and siding. He reshapes the entry by adding soffit recessed lighting, projected panels and then painting the new structure with lighter colors and textures.

Dykas introduces some Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired touches by putting down a new floor in the entry using "Raja Kashmir" slate, complete with insets of geometric cutouts. Next he adds a new custom-designed front door surrounded by glass panels to give it a floating appearance. Dykas paints the door a rust red color, again drawing inspiration from Wright, and complements it with brushed stainless-steel hardware.

Dykas completes his transformation of the house by adding contrasting colors to the garage door, making the trim just a shade darker than the panels. He puts the crowning touch on the entry with a modern asymmetrical security gate of his own design and paints it red, again evoking Frank Lloyd Wright design principles.
