Project designed by Donna Kato.

Materials:

Fimo Soft black polymer clay - #9
metallic pigment powder
pasta machine
paintbrush
Buna cord
bamboo skewer
cyanoacrylate glue

Steps:

1.Condition the clay by hand-kneading it and then running it through a pasta machine in 1/4-inch and 1/8-inch strips.

2. Roll a long tapering snake of black clay (figure A).

2. Using a brush, dust the snake with pigment powder. Roll the clay to remove excess powder.

3. Form a snake into a loose swirl (coil) shape (figure B).

4. To fashion the clasp, roll a short thin snake and press the ends together ( figure C).

5. Roll a thinner snake and wrap it around the pressed ends (figure D). Attach the clasp to the pendant (figure E).

6. Make a hole using a skewer on the clasp where the ends are pressed together (figure F). Make two holes on the top left and right sides of the swirl pendant (figure G).

7. Using a brush, dust the clasp with pigment powder

8. Bake the pendant at 265 degrees for 30 minutes. Allow the clay to cool and apply Fimo glaze.

9. String the Buna cord through the holes and glue.
