Polymer Clays

Carol Duvall Show : Episode CDS-250 -- More Projects »
On a visit to the Society of Craft Designers, crafter Joan Pompa provides a lesson with millefiori canes. She shows how to use the pre-patterned canes to create unique votive candles and shows how this technique can also be used for jewelry and ornaments.

Steps:
  1. Reduce the cane by rolling it and pinching.
  2. Cut the strip in half, and cut the resulting pieces in half again.
  3. Put 2 pieces together, side by side, and put other 2 halves on top and flatten.
  4. Wrap result with solid piece.
  5. Square off and then slice thinly.
  6. Press slices onto glass votive.
  7. Put coiled clay along top edge and solid piece on the bottom.
  8. Pre-heat oven to 200 degrees.
  9. Place decorated votive on cookie sheet and bake in oven for 30 minutes.
