3 strips assorted torn fabric: 1"x 20", 3/4"x 18", 1/2"x 10"
3 yards black floss
24" of 14-gauge (heavy) wire
36" of 22-gauge (thin) wire

For the beehive:

1 yard tan floss

1. Cut two ears from the brown felt and one face and one tummy from the natural felt. Cut three pieces of heavy wire 4, 7 and 13 inches long. Bend 1/2 inch on each end of the wire and put into the bottom of the pet body legs (figure A).

2. Cut six 6-inch pieces of the thin wire. Twist the wire around a pencil or small dowel. Glue a bee to one end of each twisted wire.

3. Stuff the pet bodies and heads. The opening of the heads will be at the bottom (figure B).

4. To make the Papa bear: Glue the small natural bag to the head for the face, with the opening at the bottom. Glue the small brown bags to his head for ears, with the opening in the back (figure C). Sew or glue the eyes and nose to his face.

5. Glue the head into the neck of the body. Tighten the drawstrings; knot and trim the threads (figure D).

6. Position the large knit bag on the front of the body and pin in place. Fold the front opening of the bag to the inside along the drawstring line and hand-stitch or glue in place (figure E). Blanket-stitch around the outside edge of the bag, using six strands of floss (figure F). Slightly stuff the bag to give the bear a fat tummy.

7. Glue the large pompom to the bear for a tail (figure G). Glue the wire ends of two bees to Papa Bear as desired. Tie the large scarf around his neck for a bow tie (figure H).

8. To make the Mama bear: Glue the extra small natural bag to the head for the face, with the opening at the bottom. Glue the extra small brown bags to her head for ears, with the opening in the back. Sew or glue the eyes and nose to her face.

9. Repeat steps 5 and 6 to create her body, using a medium natural bag.

10. Glue the 1-inch pompom to the Mama bear for a tail. Glue the wire end of one bee to Mama Bear as desired. Tie the medium scarf around her neck (figure I).

11. To make the baby bear: Glue the small natural felt piece to the head for a face, with the straight edge down. Glue the dark felt pieces in place for ears. Sew or glue the eyes and nose in place.

12. Repeat step 5 to attach the head to the neck.

13. Position the remaining natural felt piece on the front of the body and pin in place. Blanket-stitch around the outside edge of the felt, using six strands of floss.

14. Glue the 3/4-inch pompom to the baby bear for a tail. Glue the wire end of one bee to Baby Bear as desired. Tie the scarf around his neck.

15. To make the beehive: Lightly stuff the bottom of the bag. Hand-stitch around the bag, 1/2 inch from the center, using six strands of tan floss. Tighten the threads and knot to secure. This will become the top of the beehive.

16. Hand-stitch around the bag 1 inch below the first stitching row. Add additional filling to create a larger section. Tighten the threads enough to shape the beehive and knot to secure (figure J). Repeat for the final section, 1 inch below the second row of stitching.

17. Add more filling to shape the beehive (figure K). Pull the drawstrings and knot to secure. Tuck the cuff to the inside and glue in place. Glue the wire ends of the two remaining bees into the beehive (figure L).

18. Arrange the bears and beehive. Adjust the bears' legs as desired.
