Steps:

1. Emboss all of the 18 inches of velvet for the rose with the square border stamp or a stamp of your choice (figure A). (See embossing instructions below.)

2. Emboss the leaves onto the green velvet. This time you will spray the velvet and then lay down the fusible web (figure B). Cover that with protective paper that comes with the fusible web (figure C) and then iron for 10 to 20 seconds.

3. Cut another piece of the green velvet about the size of the leaf. Lay it right side up on the embossed leaf and cover with a piece of brown paper from a grocery bag or a pressing cloth. Iron for 15 seconds.

4. Cut out the leaves, which look like mirror images, so they can be placed back to back to become two sided (figure D). Leave a little tab at the base of each leaf to secure it at the stem (figure E). Set aside.

5. Remove the wire from one edge of the ribbon. Fold that edge of the ribbon lengthwise in toward the center 1/4 inch, wrong sides together (figure F).

6. Wrap a floral stick with the tape (figure G). Place the floral stick at one end of the ribbon with the embossed side on the outside (figure H). Pull the wire on the other lengthwise edge of the ribbon to gather the ribbon, keeping the wire (figure I). Begin to wrap the gathered ribbon around the green florist stick (figure J). Continue until all the ribbon is used.

7. Hold the end tightly and use a piece of discarded wire to wrap around the base of the ribbon to secure it in place (figure K).

8. Use the green florist tape to cover the bottom and as you wrap around the stick. Attach leaves as you want them and use the little tab to tuck under the green florist tape (figure L).

Embossing Instructions

Lightly mist the backside of the velvet (figure M). Place the stamp, rubber side up, on your ironing board. Lay fabric right side down against the stamp image. Now press the iron to fabric (figure N), hold for 10 to 20 seconds, and lift up the iron carefully, being careful not to move the fabric (figure O). A little trial and error will make you an expert. If you have a problem with steam holes showing, you may want to buy one of our irons with no steam holes.
