Design by guest Michael Strong
Guest Michael Strong shares an adorable idea for creating a fun and funky brag book to show off your favorite photos.

Materials:
package of unscented alcohol free baby wipes
small ring bound journal or scrapbook with blank white pages
dye ink pads in a variety of colors
8-1/2" x 11" white card stock
(you will need one sheet for every other page in the ring bound journal)
disposable rubber or latex gloves
scissors
paper cutter
spray glue or glue stick (depending on your preference)
paper towels
iron

Steps:
1. Measure the size of one of the baby wipes. Most are approximately 6-1/2"x 8". For the project shown, the wipes measure 6-3/4" x 8".

2. Purchase a blank journal or scrapbook whose pages are smaller than the size of the baby wipes you're using. The pages of the featured book are 6"x 6".

3. Set the journal aside while the colorful baby wipe sheets are being made.

4. Put on the rubber or latex gloves. Because we are imitating the look of tie dyed cloth, you will be using a number of colorful dye ink pads that could stain your hands.

5. Open the ink pads and lay them out in front of you on a washable tabletop or kitchen counter.

6. Lay several sheets of paper towels on the countertop.

7. Make one colorful baby wipe sheet for each page of the book.

8. Pull out one baby wipe and crumple it loosely in your hand.

9. Press the crumpled wipe to an ink pad turning the crumpled wipe two or three times dabbing it onto the pad each time (Figure A).

10. Roll the crumpled wipe between the palms of your gloved hands until it is tightly balled.

11. Open it out and lay it flat on a paper towel (Figure B). Allow each sheet to air dry completely.

12. Repeat steps 8 through 11 using other colors (or combinations of colors) until you have one colorful sheet for every page of the book plus one sheet for the front of the book and one for the back cover.

13. After all the sheets are completely air dried, press them flat between two paper towels using a moderate iron (Figure C). This will also heat set the colors.

14. If using spray glue, spray one side of a dry colored baby wipe sheet. (Those who prefer to use glue stick skip to step 23). Lay the glue side down over the first page of the book, adjacent to the ring binding making sure that you have enough of the sheet to overlap the top, bottom and outer edge of the book page. Press to adhere (Figure D).

15. Turn the page.

16. Fold the overlapping portions of the colored sheet onto the back of the first page, trimming the corners to remove the bulk (Figure E). Because the overlapping portions have glue on them, you can press them flat to adhere.

17. Cover a sheet of white card stock with spray glue.

18. Lay a contrasting colorful sheet atop the card stock and press flat to adhere.

19. Using a paper cutter, cut the glued sheet to fit the size of the book page.

20. Cover the back of the colorful cut sheet with spray glue.

21. Lay the cut sheet on the back of page one of the book covering up the overlapping portions from the front of the page (Figure F).

22. Repeat until all pages of the book are covered with colorful tie dyed sheets (Figure G).

23. If using glue stick, cover the first page of the book with glue up to the binding.
Those using spray glue skip steps 23 through 31.

24. Lay a dry colorful baby wipe sheet onto the glued surface of the page making sure there is enough of the sheet to overlap the top, bottom and outer edge of the book page.

25. Turn the page.

26. Glue stick the back of page one of the book all around the top, bottom and outer edge
of the page so that when you fold the overlapping portions down, they lay flat.

27. Cover a portion of the white card stock with enough glue stick to accommodate a sheet of the dry colorful baby wipe.

28. Lay a colorful sheet onto the glued card stock and press flat.

29. Using a paper cutter, cut the glued sheet to fit the size of the book page.

29 Cover the back of the cut colorful glued cardstock with glue stick.

30. Lat the glue side down on the back of page one aligning it with the book page and covering up the overlapping portions from the front of the page.

31. Repeat until all the pages of the book are covered with colorful baby wipe sheets.

32. Cover the front and back of the book with colorful sheets using the same techniques you used to cover the reverse sides of each of the book pages.
