2. Place the muslin fabric over selected texture boards. Rub firmly with a crayon to produce the impression on the muslin fabric (figure A). Continue rubbing crayon in the desired areas of the fabric until you are satisfied with the fabric design (figure B).
3. Spritz the fabric with water. Fabric should be slightly wet--not saturated.
4. Paint the fabric with selected fabric dye, letting the colors bleed together (figure C).
5. Let dry.
6. Place the fabric between two pieces of newsprint and ironset on high with no steam (figure D). This resist process removes the crayon wax from the fabric.
7. Coat the journal cover with soft gel matte medium.
8. Place the fabric down at one end of the journal and compress it onto the journal cover working from the bottom to the top. Smooth out any air bubbles with your hands (figure E).
9. Let dry.
