Hard Drive Clock

Materials:

various sizes of computer hard drive disks
drill
screws and spacers
washers
store bought clock mechanism
drill press, 1/4" and 1/8" drill bits
hammer
nail set

Steps:

1. Line up all hard drive disks. Stack disks on top of each other from the smallest to the largest.

2. Mark positions of 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock on the largest hard drive disk using a nail set and hammer (figure A). Drill holes using a 1/4-inch drill bit and hand press aluminum spacers into the clock position holes (figure B). Drill additional holes on the inside circle of the large hard drive disk so that you can attach the smaller disk on top (step 4).

3. Drill holes on perimeter of the medium sized hard drive disk to match the holes on the inside circle of the large hard drive disk. Attach the medium hard drive disk to the large disk using small screws (figure C).

4. Place a washer ring on top of the medium hard drive disk and place the smallest hard drive disk on top. Add a washer on top (figure D).

5. Install the clock mechanism from the back of the hard drive disk and tighten shank screw (figure E).

6. Add the clock hands and mount the hard drive clock on the wall.
