Today’s segment devoted to interesting new products surprised me as much as it may have surprised some of you. The entire table was covered with stickers--nothing but stickers! Who would have guessed, a few seasons back, that stickers could look so different, do such different things, and be such an aid to you scrapbookers who are always looking for new and easy ways to give your pages more pizzazz.

First on the table were some examples of the latest from Destination Stickers and Stamps, Inc. The titles of the new lines from these folks--who just a few years ago were offering just city and state names i.e. Chicago, The Windy City, Illinois, etc.--are Geek Speak and Jock Talk Sticker Sheets. These folks thought that there was a huge gap in the kinds of school activities that had stickers of their own. It seemed to them that there were a lot of choices for kids on the basketball, baseball or football team, but nothing for those in the marching band and or the drama club members or the kids working on the school yearbook or newspaper. So they took care of that with an entire line devoted to such activities (even the debating team has stickers now!) and these are the ones they call Geek Speak. They also include the more popular sport teams, but even these Jock Talk Sticker Sheets have a different flair.

Westrim has a new line of stickers that are meant to stick to other stickers. Their Fun With Bugs and Celebration stickers are some that the kids should love. The alphabet and number stickers are complete as they are, but when you add a bug sticker or two, they are not only complete, they are much cuter. The kids should love these. Pick your theme and then add the appropriate sticker.

Paper Lofts License Plate Alphabet Stickers are so realistic you almost think that they ARE metal license plate numbers and letters. Printed with high gloss on heavy card stock, you can compose a standard license plate or make your own vanity plate with letters like QT, etc. And all for your scrapbook!

The metal look is also prominent in Mrs. Grossman’s new Scrap Metal stickers. There are sheets, borders, circles, squares and alphabets that all look like they are made of metal. Nope. They are paper but they are certainly foolers. Foolers, too, are the Papier Blocks--stickers that look like they are made of handmade papers and Brushstrokes that appear to have been hand painted. These are translucent, so again you can stick stickers to stickers. Stack ‘em to obtain the see-through look.

Paper Parachute also has some see-through stickers in their Luminatra Art Labels. With these you can actually compose a picture without touching a pen or pencil or paint brush. You really have to see and try these to see the effects that are possible with just some stickers that were made to compliment each other. A number of different themes are available.

TumbleBeasts not only has transparent stickers (this is obviously a popular idea) but has added texture to some of their stickers as well. You can not only see the dimension on some, but you can feel it as well.

Speaking of dimension, the stickers from Provo Craft called Stand-Outs are definitely that. And they do, too--stand out, that is, because they are actually pieces of quilled paper. They are very clever and yes, they do stick.

Definitely, stickers aren’t just for children anymore.
