Figure B
Debi Holzer designed and demonstrated this project.

Materials:

old jeans
bandana
handle gift bag
fine-point black permanent marker
ruler
scissors
decorative-edge scissors
hot glue gun w/glue sticks
patches, rhinestones, beads, etc.
tissue paper
soft fibbon
Creative Memories scrapbook paper and stickers

Steps:

1. With your ruler and permanent marker, draw "stitching" around the front of the bag (sides and bottom only). Two rows are best.

2. Glue buttons at the four corners.

3. Cut pocket from jeans and clean up edges. Glue at an angle towards bottom of gift bag, just above the "stitching" (figure A). Be sure to leave the top open.

4. Glue embellishments onto the pocket.

5. Lay your bandana out in a diamond shape. Cut it in half from the closest point to the farthest. You should have two triangles now; save one for another bag.

6. Fold bandana or bunch it up and place it in the pocket (figure B).

7. Cut the desired size card from Creative Memories paper and fold in half. Using decorative-edged scissors adds a nice touch.

8. Decorate the front of the card as desired with coordinating Creative Memories stickers or patches. Sign the card before attaching it to the bag.

9. Glue the tip of 4-inch ribbon to the back of the card. Wrap the remaining ribbon around the front handle of your gift bag and glue the other end of the ribbon to the back of the card.

10. Add coordinating tissue paper to inside of the bag and you're done!

Tips:

1. Embellish the bag with patches, jewels, etc. This looks best on large bags.

2. When working with the glue, have a pencil or pair of scissors handy to press down with, especially on the buttons, so you don't get burned.

3. For large bags, use two different sized pockets. Using one bandana in the largest pocket and small props in the other, i.e. a baby rattle, lollipop, flower, etc. Even a tag in the small pocket is cute.

4. Using baby-sized pockets, you can make a "made by" pocket for the back of the bag and sign your name around it. This is very cute!
