Expert Alex Anderson discusses what causes quilt mats to become fibrous and recommends a smoothing tool for easy fiber removal. - When fabric fibers are wedged in the mat this is an indication that the rotary blade is dull and its time to replace the blade.
- To remove fabric fibers that are lodged in the mat, use a mat-smoothing tool. Rub the smoother on top of the mat and the fibers pull right out. Wipe the mat with a damp lint-free cloth.
