Snow Globe
Bubble Painting

Materials (for each color):
2 teaspoons dishwashing liquid
3 tablespoons water
1/4 cup powdered tempera
straw
jar with lid

Steps:

1. Blend the dishwashing liquid, water and powdered tempera in a lidded jar. To deepen the color, add more tempera.

2. Set the jar on newspaper to protect the work surface. Gently blow the straw in the paint mixture. DO NOT suck in. The mixture tastes terrible and might make you sick. Keep blowing until the bubbles overflow.

3. To create a bubble print, remove the jar and gently place a piece of paper on top of the overflow of bubbles. They will leave a print on the paper before and after they burst. Lay the paper flat to dry.

Finger Paint Recipe

Materials:
3 tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup cornstarch
2 cups cold water
dish detergent
food coloring

Steps:

1. In a medium saucepan, mix the sugar and cornstarch together. Slowly stir in water and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly.

2. Bring to a boil. The mixture will begin to thicken in about five minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely.

3. Pour 1/2 cup of the mixture into individual containers. To each, add a drop of detergent and food coloring, and mix to blend. Store the paint in lidded wide -mouth jars, which are best for little hands.

Transfer Ink Recipe

Materials:
2 tablespoons soap powder, such as Ivory Snow
1/4 cup hot water
1 tablespoon turpentine

Steps:

1. Dissolve the soap powder in hot water and add the turpentine.

2. Brush the "ink" over the picture to be transferred. Wait about 10 seconds.

3. Place a piece of paper over the picture and rub the paper with the back of a spoon. The picture will transfer to the paper.

4. When you're done, store the rest of the "ink" in a covered container so you can use it in the future as well.

Snow Globe Mixture

Materials:
clear-drying epoxy
small plastic or ceramic figurine
glass jar with screw-on lid
distilled water
pinch of glitter
1/2 teaspoon glycerin

Steps:

1. Glue a figurine onto the inside of the jar's lid. Set aside.

2. Fill the jar to the top with distilled water. Add the glitter and glycerin.

3. Screw the lid on tightly and invert the snow globe, lid side down. Shake whenever the mood strikes you.
