The products made for crafting never seem to stop coming. This is why I try to feature a segment devoted to just showing products every now and then. While not all of them are brand new on the market many of them are. Others are products that have been around awhile but have not been used on the show before, and I feel they are worth a mention.
Today's line up of products started with packages of individual slices of polymer clay canes from Halcraft. They come in a variety of sizes in packages that feature one or four slices. I suggested that the larger ones could be baked for refrigerator magnets. A combination of large and small slices were turned into a mosaic to cover a small table top. The table on which I demonstrated such a top was one of wrought iron which measured about 12-inch square. I removed the single tile already in the table, cut a piece of chipboard to fit and covered it with a variety of the clay slices. The tiles were baked according to the manufacturer's directions, before attaching them to the chipboard and then glued into place.
The second product featured today was a package containing a small plastic bottle about the size of the average acrylic paint bottle with a screw-on brush top. The idea here is to screw the brush onto your selected bottle of paint (there are two size rings to fit almost any bottle on the market) and use it for painting. It gives a constant even flow of paint. When completed fill the empty bottle with water, return the brush to the original bottle and clean it by squeezing the water through it. The brushes come in both 3/4-inch and 1-inch widths.
And then there were punches! Not only do punches have long arms on them now but I showed some that could be rotated so that wherever you want to punch, you can punch the image right side up! Uchida's Craft Embosser does the same thing.
Lastly, I showed a frame that was decorated with tiny, tiny, no-hole beads. The frame was first covered with precut squares of double-stick Red Liner tape, which had been cut into triangles. The triangles of tape were placed on the frame, the as the top piece of each triangle of tape was peeled, I added more beads in a different color. The beads can also be applied using Shimmerez glue or dimensional paint. In any case, work over a paper plate or similar item as the beads tend to scatter to the winds.
