Field reporter Joe Zanger meets two woodworking brothers who share a passion for beautifully-crafted furniture yet design very different pieces.

Figure A--Gray Egbert looks to the past, "the early American stuff," for inspiration for his furniture pieces, such as this high chair.

Figure C--Gray's brother, Paul, however, looks to the future for his designs, calling them "functional sculptures." He wants those who purchase his pieces to use them on an everyday basis. For example, his first creation was this mahogany chair, which was inspired by the arts-and-crafts style.

Figure D--This wine rack took place after a run to a local scrapyard, where Paul came across a series of new steel rods. The idea was for the piece to be functional but not necessarily obvious as to its use. "I like for someone to walk in a room and say what is it?", he says.
