Here is a great way to make cardboard squares look like shiny patterned tiles. These can be used to make wall art, embellish plain boxes and frames for a multitude of decorating ideas.
Materials:
cardboard squares
rubber stamps (Cherry Blossom #A2218E, Bamboo #A2219E, Far East Leaves #A2220, Painted Dragonfly #A2297)
ultra thick embossing enamel
embossing and/or pigment ink
embossing heat tool
rub-on metallic paste or pigment powders
silicone adhesive
Steps:
- Apply embossing ink to the entire surface of a cardboard square.
- Cover with embossing enamel powder, removing excess.
- Heat entire square until powder melts.
- Repeat process two times.
- Before melting the third application of embossing powder, ink the rubber stamp with embossing or pigment ink.
- While the third application of embossing powder is still hot, impress it with the inked stamp.
- The embossing powder solidifies instantly. The ink on the stamp acts as a lubricant so that the stamp can be easily removed from the melted embossing powder.
- Apply metallic paste or pigment powders to the raised surfaces of the tile to achieve a metallic finish.
- Apply the tiles to a project with silicone adhesive.
