Turn a sticky-note pad into a little book with guidance from crafter and author Rebecca Meredith. These handmade books are perfect stocking-stuffers, package toppers, and decorative desk accessories!

Materials:

1-1/2" x 2" sticky-note pad separated into two pads
two 1-1/2" x 2-1/4" pieces of lightweight cardboard
2-1/4" x 3-3/8" white paper
2" x 3-1/4" colored parchment paper
3" x 4-1/4" lightweight cloth
glue stick

Steps:

  1. Working with the white paper placed horizontally, place one cardboard piece on top of the paper, lining up the top (1-1/2"), bottom (1-1/2"), and left (2-1/4") sides of the cardboard with the paper. Glue cardboard to paper. Repeat step with other piece of cardboard, similarly lining up the top, bottom, and right sides of the cardboard with the paper.
  2. Apply glue to the face-up sides of the cardboard and turn the cardboard/paper piece upside down and center it over the wrong side of the cloth. Press piece firmly on the cloth. Turn the piece over and smooth out any wrinkles in the fabric.
  3. Apply glue to each of the four corners of the paper and fold down the cloth corners to the paper at a 45-degree angle as in illustration A.
  4. Apply glue to the top part of the paper and fold down the top margin of the cloth to the paper, as in illustration B. Repeat with the bottom margin of the cloth.
  5. Apply glue to the side margins of the paper, and fold the cloth over, one side at a time, making sure the corners are as square as possible. (See illustration C.)
  6. Apply glue to the parchment paper and center it over the white paper and turned-down cloth edges. Leave a small margin of cloth on all four sides. (See illustration D.)
  7. Apply glue to the back of one of the sticky-note pads-save the remaining pad as a refill. Glue the pad to the right side of the parchment paper and cloth cover so that the pad peels from left side. (See illustration E.)
  8. The last step is to slowly close the book cover and smooth out any wrinkles that form in the parchment paper. Your little book is now complete.
