Originally, the overcrowded family room had an unworkable layout with very little storage. Since the space had become more or less a playroom, the owners needed childproof shelving and wanted a neo-classical look that tied in better with the 18th century style found in the rest of the home. The adjacent office was stark and although it had several windows, those windows were blocked by neighboring homes, making the space seem gloomy.
In the family room, exquisite cherry cabinetry conceals high-tech audio and video equipment and a coffered ceiling adds height and dimension to the room. Next to that, the old, cluttered office is now a high-end library with an elegant desk and regal cherry paneling.
