When David Hurlbut purchased an old social club in Selma, Ala., it wasn’t in the best condition. Even though it had sat vacant for about 40 years, he still saw the potential to turn it into a historic home. With the help of his roommate and assistant, Bill Tomey, Hurlbut managed to restore the old plumbing system. Instead of gutting the structure and starting over, Hurlbut chose to retain as many of the original fixtures as possible.
