Problem: The exposed wires leading to the speakers of your home theater system are detracting from the appearance of the room.
Solution: To hide speaker wiring for home theater systems, you can use ultra-thin, paintable speaker wires with self-adhesive backing.
Equipment list:
Wire cutters
Paintbrush
Paint stir stick
- Remove any existing speaker wire.
- Clean the area where you plan to install the wire.
- Start at the rear speaker and begin applying the wire to the top of the wall. Be sure to leave enough loose wire to attach to speaker.
- Remove the backing from the adhesive and press the wire onto the wall. Keep in mind that once the wire is in place it can be difficult to remove.
- When you come to a corner and need to run the wire down the wall, simply fold the wire straight upward so the adhesive is facing the wrong direction, then fold the wire straight down so that the folded area is concealed.
- After you reach the floor, you can run the wire underneath your baseboard. Leave the backing on the wire and use a paint stir stick to press the wire into the space between the baseboard and the floor.
- After you install the wire, you can paint it to match the color of your wall.
