Steps:

1. Remove screws holding each cabinet to the wall using a screwdriver or power drill with screwdriver attachment. Always wear safety glasses when working with power tools.

2. Use a utility knife to cut through any caulk seams. If you encounter hidden screws holding cabinets together cut through them with the reciprocating saw (figure A). Continue until all cabinets are removed.

3. Now locate some wall studs. A good place to start is by inserting a piece of wire into the screw holes where the old cabinets were attached (figure B). If the wire hits the stud, mark the point by drawing a line straight through the center of the hole with a pencil and level (figure C). It's important that the cabinets are plumb and level so the doors operate smoothly.

4. To make mounting new cabinets easier, temporarily attach a 2x4 along the wall to serve as a support ledge (figure D). Make sure to use a level to ensure the 2x4 is on the level.

5. Hoist new cabinets into place and attach to wall studs with screws. Make sure the screws are long enough to extend an inch to inch-and-a-half into the wall stud.

6. If two are more cabinets are going up, hold them in place with clamps while securing them together with screws (figure E).

7. Attach doors and hardware, then remove temporary 2x4 support.
