Better Migrant Housing
Dream Builders : Episode DRB-202 -- More Projects » Recently, Pennsylvania housing experts began working to build new housing for migrant workers. Like most migrant shelters, Pennsylvania's existing "bull pens" are run-down and provide little privacy. This often leads to conflicts among workers, says architect Bryan Bell, who is designing new shelters that offer privacy and comfort. Ron Kuhl, who funds migrant housing programs, says new shelters are relatively easy to finance. Farmer Scott Slaybaugh says "good migrant housing is good business," and migrant worker Jesus Lepiz describes his new temporary home as "peaceful."
