Dream Builders : Episode DRB-903 -- More Projects »
This Colorado home has been called "The Barn" and "The Mine Shaft," but according to homeowners Liliann and Brian Bailey, it's just plain cool. It was also a struggle to build, seeing as though the couple was on a tight budget, and the development where they lived had strict rules and regulations.

Enter Aspen architect Scott Lindenau. He is known locally for his cutting edge designs. In the Bailey home, he created a clean contemporary using innovative materials. The exterior is 106-year-old wood recycled from a barn in Pennsylvania, complemented by pre-rusted corrugated metal. The multitude of windows allow panoramic views of Mount Sopris.

Dyed concrete floors and exposed Dura-roc on the walls are both cost-effective and striking to the eye. Bamboo floors in the living room, a galvanized tin fireplace, and dozens of windows provide abundant light and energy efficiency.
