After: That's more like it.
Materials and tools:

doorbells (2)
doorbell buttons (2)
transformers (2)
spool doorbell wire (2)
cordless drill with battery and magnetic screw tip
3/8" auger bit, 16" long.
electrical meter with continuity tester
electrical snake

Steps:

1. Find the power supply at the main breaker box, and turn it off.

2. Low-voltage wires. The doorbell transformers require a hot wire. The transformers attach to the outside of an electrical junction box. After making sure the power is turned off, tie the transformers in by mating the black and white wires using wire nuts.

3. Snake an 18 gauge doorbell wire from the transformer location to the location of the doorbell chimes. Attach another doorbell wire to the front door.

4. Connect the wires. The transformer has four terminals. The two wires from the chimes go to one side, then the button wires go to the other.

5. Hang the chime box and hook up the wires

6. Hang the button and hook up the wires

7. Turn the power on. Test your new door bell. If you hear "ding-dong," congratulate yourself on a job well done.
