After: Rather than discarding the old kitchen cabinets, they were restored and repurposed for use in a new location.
John and Meghan Lockwood have moved from a tiny Manhattan apartment to their first home outside the city. Steve Watson and his team are helping to make their entertaining and cooking tasks easier by transforming their kitchen space. They've already enlarged the kitchen pass-through. Now they help create more useable space in the small kitchen by re-purposing some old cabinets in a new and better location.

Following is a summary of the basic steps as seen in this Don't Sweat It project, as well as a list of tools and materials used.

Materials and tools:

countertop
3/4" plywood (2 sheets)
cabinet feet (6)
table saw
circular saw
cordless drill
safety glasses

Steps:

1. Build up the base of the cabinets using Ikea cabinet "feet."

2. Cut, measure, and install the new countertop on top of the old cabinets.

3. Fill up cabinets with lots of useful kitchen stuff and enjoy.
