Materials:
acrylic concrete coating (#9040 Bonding Coat primer, #80-30 Forest Green, #80-20 Palm Green, #80-50 Cordova Brown, #80-00 Gulf Gray, #79-10 Bombay Beige)
3/8" nap roller cover
tray plus foam or plastic trays
1-1/2" angled brush
small wool sponge
pencil
2" painter's tape
TSP cleanser
Steps:
- Sweep the surface to be painted and clean with TSP. Rinse thoroughly and let dry overnight.
- Mask-off all walls, trim, railings and steps/ledges. Apply Bonding Coat primer and let dry for a few days.
- Draw desired pattern. Apply a solid coat of Forest Green to the grassy area . Add a second coat if necessary. Apply a solid coat of Gulf Gray to the cobblestone area and add another if necessary. Let both colors dry overnight.
- Pour Palm Green into a paint tray. Use the tip of a 1-1/2 inch brush to apply some over the Forest Green in a quick, short, sweeping motion.Vary the angle and length of each stroke slightly, allowing about half of the Forest Green to show through . Clean the brush and let surface dry several hours.
- Use the pencil to draw a series of rounded cobblestones of various sizes. Leave 3/4- to one-inch grout areas between the stones.
- Pour Cordova Brown into a tray and paint the stones. Let dry two to three hours .
- Pour Gulf Gray into a tray. Dampen the sponge and apply the color to each stone to add shading. The edge should be mostly brown fading into gray in the center. Rinse out sponge.
- Pour Bombay Beige into a tray. Use the dampened sponge to apply the beige lightly to the center of each stone, fading it out as it approaches the edge. After doing the stones, lightly apply some of the beige to the center of the grout areas. Let dry overnight and pull tape.
