Gary Karp, trained as an architect with a preservationist's eye for his home, wants to use the simple, unadorned house front as a backdrop for an important piece of public art.
Landscape designer Andrea Taylor arranges the landscape to complement its dramatic lines. Karp also wants to add a piece of art inside the enclosed courtyard, where he positions a large sculpture alongside the front door.
The rest of the deck is given a minimalist treatment with a spare arrangement of modern furniture and artful container plantings.
