Dream Builders : Episode DRB-806 -- More Projects » The round, portable nomadic structure known as a Yurt is undergoing a renaissance on the West Coast and throughout North America. Now, this Mongolian-inspired home will be used to provide home and hearth to a modern community of nomadic agricultural workers: the migrant farm workers of Northern California. The efforts of local city officials, Yurt builders and volunteers will result in the raising of over 12 Yurts in the Valley. Collectively, these Yurts will represent a new community intended to provide a level of domestic comfort and convenience for the hundreds of nomadic farm workers that spend only a part of the year in region--and then move on.
