Though the history of New Orleans is most often associated with the French and Spanish, Italian immigrants played a large role in shaping the city’s culture. One such example is Incardonia’s, a restaurant and bar run by successful Italian immigrant Joseph Incardonia. Because of Incardonia’s prominent location on Tchoupitoulas Street, the building’s restoration and adaptive reuse is critical to sustaining the Faubourg Marengo neighborhood and spurring new investment in its historic architecture.
